Superbowl of Rock and Roll VI returns to the Blackwater Cafe | Arts & Culture
Are you one of the few Americans that doesn't care about who's playing in the Superbowl and have no interest in watching the halftime costume malfunctions? Well then why don't you join us in a different tradition, The Superbowl of Rock and Roll. In the winter of 2006, Kepi Ghoulie and I discussed our plans for the Superbowl and how neither of us really had any; we were sure there were others like us and decided to create an event to bring us all together, thus the Superbowl of Rock and Roll was born.
On February 3rd 2007, The Groovie Ghoulies, Secretions, Helper Monkeys and The Little Medusas joined a packed house at a little cafe located at 912 N. Yosemite St Stockton, CA and at the end of the day it was decided, we had too do this again. Over next 4 years the SBRR would be held at Blackwater and then moving to Plea for Peace(for the last two) with Kepi at the helm for each of the events being joined by Off With Their Heads(Epitaph), The Re-Volts(members of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes/Swingin' Utters), The Custom Kicks and more.
This year Kepi will be absent from the lineup for the first time in 6 years but not from the hearts of everyone in attendance. This year back at the Blackwater Cafe February 5th with what could be the best lineup yet, The Phenomenauts(Rocket Roll with a dash of New Wave and Rockabilly), Bastards of Young(Acoustic), Union Heart(Heartfelt Punk), TheDumbFox(Pop Punk) and Sneeze Attack!(Pop Punk). Kick off is set for 2pm $8 in advance or $10 day of show.
