For Central Valley jewelers, love conquers all – even the Great Recession | Business

Whatever the economic conditions, it appears that diamonds are still a girl’s best friend.

That’s fortunate for local jewelry businesses, which may have weathered the economic downturn a bit better than other retailers.

“Love is never in a recession,” said Jeff Fields, owner of Peck’s Jewelers in Stockton. “People are always getting married, celebrating special occasions and marking those times with jewelry.”
