City to hold public meeting about Lower Sacramento Road closure | Community
Members of the public are invited to an information meeting on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Podesta Ranch Elementary School, 9950 Windmill Park Drive (off Whistler Way) in Stockton, from 5:30 p.m.–7:00 p.m. This meeting, sponsored by the City of Stockton for the North Stockton Railroad Grade Separations project, is being held to provide the public with information about the closure of Lower Sacramento Road south of Eight Mile Road.
An undercrossing is being constructed on Lower Sacramento Road, about one-half mile south of Eight Mile Road and construction is scheduled to begin on or about August 1, 2011. During construction, Lower Sacramento Road will be closed between Marlette Road and Grider Way, and is expected to reopen in fall of 2012. Grider Way will be open to Whistler Way before the closure of Lower Sacramento Road, so that traffic can be routed around the roadwork.
During the open house meeting, maps and other displays will be available for review. Engineering staff from the City of Stockton Department of Public Works and construction management staff will be at the meeting to respond to questions and comments.
As part of the North Stockton Railroad Grade Separations project, this undercrossing is one of three under construction which replace the current railroad crossings in the north Stockton area with bridge crossings that will accommodate expected traffic growth and development.
Project construction funding is coming from the Measure K ½-cent sales tax, State Proposition 1B grant, State Local Partnership Funds, and the Union Pacific Railroad. No money from the City of Stockton General Fund budget is being used for this project.
