A lecture by Dr. James Taylor on community, state, and federal efforts to systematically prevent African Americans from voting through persecution and oppressive laws including: poll taxes, literacy tests, voter ID cards, and segregation. Dr. Taylor is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Politics Department at the University of San Francisco. This event is free and open to the public.

SJ Delta College Phlebotomy Technician classes start Feb. 23.

This program is designed for persons employed or those who plan to be employed by a licensed clinical laboratory or public health department. The course combines 64 hours of classroom instruction with a 40-hour off-site clinical externship, coordinated by Boston Reed, to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience. The 40-hour externship includes at minimum 50 successful venipunctures and 10 skin punctures. Upon completion of the program, the student will receive our certificate of completion and become eligible for certification in the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT 1).
 

Course Fee: Course tuition is $2,895 (includes books, medical equipment, externship, and course completion certificate).

Stockton Fire Department Safety Slogan Contest

The City of Stockton Fire Department teamed up with Stockton, Lodi, Manteca and Lincoln school districts, as well as private schools in the area, to come up with a slogan for Sparky the Fire Dog signs, which are signs typically found in front of the fire houses throughout Stockton.  Students in 1st through 12th grade were asked to participate, and schools with submissions were Bush Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Venture Academy, Creekside E

At this time the Joint Task Force between the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Stockton Area and Stockton Police Department has come to a conclusion. In this joint effort to combat violent crime in the city of Stockton members of the CHP and Stockton Police Department worked together to remove violent criminals from our streets and make our community safer.  

The Joint task force has accomplished the following:
