The Central Valley will have its very own pop culture convention debuting this Sunday, August 5 at the Spanos Center on the University of Pacific campus.

Stockton-con is a non-profit event aimed at bringing recognition to outstanding artists in the San Joaquin Valley while giving attendees the chance to experience pop culture, including comics, card games, video games, Anime, Manga, science fiction, toys, television and movies.

Some of the events include a Yu Gi Oh! and Magic tournament, a primer on figure drawing, costume panel and more. Morrie Turner from Wee Pals will be the event’s guest of honor.

Stockton-con’s  goal is also to raise awareness and funds in conjunction with the United Way and St. Mary’s Dining Room.Half of every dollar raised from admission fees and exhibitor revenue will go to St. Mary’s Dining Room, in addition to 100 percent of all money raised from the live auction.

The State Fair is full packed fun with lots of rides, food, competitions and exhibits.
