STOCKTON - On Wednesday, March 9, Teachers College of San Joaquin will host "A Conversation with Darrell Scott," founder of Rachel's Challenge and father of the first Columbine High School shooting victim. Seating is limited and doors open at 6 p.m. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin County Office of Education's Wentworth Education Center, 2707 Transworld Drive in Stockton.

Scott will bring the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America to San Joaquin County. The father of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy, Scott has embedded his daughter’s acts of kindness and compassion into Rachel’s Challenge, a program that creates a desire for positive change in the community. Powerful footage and discussion of Rachel's life and the Columbine tragedy will leave you spellbound during the one-hour conversation with San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools Mick Founts.

The mission of Rachel’s Challenge is to inspire, equip, and empower every person to create a permanent positive culture change in his or her school, business, and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

San Joaquin County Office of Education established the Teachers College of San Joaquin (TCSJ) in 2009 as California’s first graduate school to be established through a county office of education. TCSJ’s mission is to develop a new generation of teachers and school leaders that are able to connect high-quality academics with career-technical education, preparing California’s students for both career and college. TCSJ currently serves nearly 150 graduate students from across Northern California, with an esteemed faculty of practitioners who are experts in their specialty.
