Client loyalty, stylists’ efforts make salons nearly recession proof

 People cut a lot of luxuries from their budgets during the recession, but one thing many women refused to do without was their trip to the salon.

It’s that kind of loyalty that led many business experts to refer to hair salons as nearly recession-proof. It’s also the kind of energy that allowed Salon Avanti in Stonecreek Village to expand late last summer. 

“For a lot of the clients that come here, it’s not a luxury,” said Salon Avanti co-owner Vicki Kirk. “They need their hair done for work. They will go without food before they forgo their hair color.”

Lincoln Center welcomes brand new businesses, sees others expanding

If new businesses opening and established businesses expanding are signs of a recovering economy, then Lincoln Center might be the epicenter of good things to come.

Several longtime Lincoln Center locations are expanding and new businesses are moving in, making the north Stockton retail center an active location.
