Marinello School of Beauty hosting Japan Relief Cut-a-Thon through April 2

STOCKTON - Marinello School of Beauty is holding a Japan Relief Cut-a-Thon until Saturday, April 2. The beauty school wants to do its part to help victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami devastation in Japan. You can do your part by coming to Marinello's at 445 West Weber Avenue, Suite 223 in Stockton.

Hair cuts are $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross to support the Japanese relief efforts. Marinello's in Stockton is open from 10:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m Thursday through Friday and 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday. If you'd like to stop by and help in their good cause, you walk-in or call ahead to make an appointment by calling (2090 948-1033. When you arrive, mention you're there for the Cut-a-Thon.

Free tax assistance still available

The Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library is partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to bring free 2010 income tax assistance to our community. The VITA program offers free income tax help to families earning $54,000 or less a year.

Residents interested in getting free income tax assistance must schedule an appointment with Arnetta Lee-Gray, VITA coordinator, by calling her at (209) 483-4190.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be offered at the following libraries:

Cesar Chavez Central Library - 605 North El Dorado Street in Stockton; Tuesday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tracy Branch Library - 20 East Eaton Avenue in Tracy; Thursday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This free program is provided through the generosity of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
