Photo Gallery | Community comes together to clean up graffiti

Two Stockton neighborhood watch groups came together on Saturday, July 7 to clean up and paint the Smith Canal Bridge on Pershing Avenue.

The American Legion Park and Victory Park watch groups painted over graffiti on the bridge with paint donated by the City of Stockton. Community members said they know that graffiti will be back on the bridge soon, but that it was still important to paint the bridge and show pride in their community.

Grace Quaschnick, American Legion Park Neighborhood Watch spokesperson, said that the city would paint over graffiti as it happened, but would always use different colored paint. She described the random paint over graffiti as scars, so it was important to use one color and clean up the appearance of the bridge.
